WHAT'S IT LIKE TO BE IN ALPHA?

Alpha Q & A

Q: How does an Alpha Session work?

A: Alpha On-Site sessions last about 2 hours. You come for a bit of socializing some great food, watch a great video, and share your thoughts on the video with your table mates (who you will meet at the first session).

Most people come nervous! So no worries.

During the discussion portion of the session, you can ask your table mates any questions you want. Your session host will ensure the discussion ends on time.

Q: Can I just ‘come and see’ for the first few?

A: Yes! Just be sure to register with us so we have a spot for you.

Q: Is there childcare available?

A: Yes, for On-Site session only, and its free. You can register for child care when you register for Alpha.

Q: What if I go for a week or two and don’t want to continue?

A: At any point, if you think Alpha isn't for you, that's not a problem. There's no pressure, no follow up and no charge....promise!

Q: I am coming and will not know anybody else. Is that normal?

A: Yes! Lots of people come to Alpha without knowing anybody else on the course. By the end of the course, most people become good friends. Alpha is a great way to meet new people!

Q: How much does Alpha cost?

A: Great news! There's no charge for Alpha. However for the On-Site sessions we do share heavy appetizers each week so we ask for donations. The Day Away will have a separate cost if done on-site. However we never want money to prevent anyone from attending Alpha so we got you covered if you need.

Q: Do I have to talk and share my thoughts?

A: No! You may remain silent if you wish.

Q: What if I missed the first week?

A: It doesn't matter if you missed the first week of Alpha - you can at least watch the video online. Anyone is able to register up until session 3 (week 3); after that we would encourage you to check back on this website and sign up for our next Alpha course, and start from session 1 (week 1).

Q: My schedule is complicated.  Can I occasionally come to a session time other than the one I registered for?

A: Lots of people face this reality. The good news is that for the Virtual sessions you can login from anywhere in the world with computers, tablets or other smart devices including cell phones.  If you still can’t make it just let us know by email to alpha@smmcc.org

Q: I have more questions. Who do I contact?

A: Direct any questions you have to alpha@smmcc.org.
